JSR335: JVM Changes

August 22, 2013

The only JVM changes related to this JSR are related to default methods. Methods in interfaces can now have code (non-abstract). The 4 non-dynamic instructions that invoke code: invokeinterface, invokespecial, invokestatic, invokevirtual.

invokespecial changes can not be tested at the time of this writing because the ‘private’ interface methods do not appear to be implemented in jdk8b103. Invokespecial would be used to call a private method within the interface: e.g. if a public default method called a private default method of the interface.
